Privacy Policy

In God’s Presence is a sacred and private space for Catholics to encounter God. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the In God’s Presence app (“the app”) and this website.

In short: your journal entries, prayers, testimonies, reflections and voice recordings stay on your device and belong only to you. We do not, and cannot, access or read them.

Who we are

The app is made and published by Laura Pipper, an independent developer based in Germany, who is the data controller for the limited information described below. You can reach us at [email protected].

Your personal content

Everything you create in the app (journal entries, prayers, testimonies, Fruit of the Spirit reflections, Bible notes, highlights, drawings, verse links and voice recordings) is stored only on your device. It is not sent to us or to any server we run. There is no account to create.

Backups

You can back up your content from within the app, either manually or automatically. Every backup requires a password that you choose, and is fully encrypted with it on your device before it is saved to the place you choose, such as your phone’s storage or your own Google Drive. A backup can only be opened with your password.

Automatic backups to Google Drive keep one backup per day for 30 days. Older backups are removed automatically.

Your backup password never leaves your device and is never sent to us. If you forget it, nobody, including us, can open or recover the backup. Wherever you save the file, it stays under your own account and that provider’s terms. We cannot access it.

Microphone

The app asks for microphone access only so you can record prayers, testimonies and journal answers by voice. Recordings are saved on your device and are never uploaded by us. Android asks for your permission the first time you record. You can refuse it, or withdraw it at any time in your device settings (Settings, Apps, In God’s Presence, Permissions), and you can still write by text.

PIN code

If you lock your journals and prayers with a PIN code, the PIN is stored only on your device. We never see it and cannot recover it for you.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are bought and managed through Google Play. Google processes your payment; we never receive your card details, name or address.

To check whether your subscription is active and unlock subscriber features, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA), a subscription management service. It receives a random app user ID, your purchase and subscription status, and basic technical details such as device type, operating system and app version. It never receives your personal content. This information is used only to provide and restore your subscription. RevenueCat processes it on our behalf and may store it in the United States, protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

What we do not do

This website

This website does not use cookies or analytics. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. Text on the site uses fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to load them.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we process the limited subscription information above because it is needed to provide the service you bought (performance of a contract). Microphone access is based on your permission, which you can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep information

Your personal content stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app removes it from your device. We cannot restore it for you; only a backup you made can bring it back. Subscription records are kept only as long as needed to manage your subscription and meet legal obligations.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your personal content at any time within the app. Where the GDPR applies, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your information, and to data portability. To use these rights, write to [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the authority in your country or in Germany.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
